A traffic light column is a post with a vertical two-aspect signal that shows drivers the barrier status: red means the bollard or road blocker is raised, green means it is lowered and the lane is open. It complements bollards, road blockers, Speedbumps and Tire-killers but does not block the lane itself. The panel version also carries access control equipment.

How to choose a traffic light column

• Signal only or signal plus access. The Traffic Column is a signal on a tubular post. The Traffic Column with Panel for ACS Integrations comes in three versions: signal only, or with a type 1 or type 2 ACS panel.
• Panel size. The type 1 panel is 300x197 mm, type 2 is 194x200 mm (L×H). Almost any access control system can be fitted on request.
• Dimensions. The Traffic Column is a 273 mm tube on a 346 mm wide plate, 1668 mm tall with the signal and 1298 mm without it. The panel column is 380x290 mm at the base and 1700 mm tall.
• Power. The signal on both models runs from a 12 V DC source (0.5 A).
• Equipment inside. The panel column has an extra box for an ACS controller, a PLC controller or a control unit for bollards and road blockers with an internal hydraulic unit.

Model comparison

• Traffic Column — 273 mm tube, 1668 mm tall, 12 V signal; sound alarm on request. Suits sites that only need a signal for drivers.
• Traffic Column with Panel for ACS Integrations — 380x290x1700 mm housing, an ACS panel in two sizes or none, box for controllers. Suits lanes where drivers open access via a reader on the column.

Where they are used

Traffic light columns are installed at entrances to protected sites and at checkpoints where the lane is closed by a bollard, road blocker, Speedbump or Tire-killers. Drivers see the barrier status before entering; authorised ones open access themselves.

How does a traffic light column work with a bollard?

It shows the bollard position: the green LED is on when the bollard is lowered, the red one when it is raised. The bollard can also be controlled through the column.

Can a card reader be fitted on the column?

Yes, on the panel model: almost any access control system can be fitted on the type 1 or type 2 panel on request.
