A speed gate is an optical turnstile with wings that open in 0.3–1.8 s and let a person through almost without stopping. Infrared sensors in the cabinets detect two people passing on one card and movement in the wrong direction. Unlike a tripod, it closes the lane with glass, acrylic or steel wings rather than arms.

How to choose speed gates

  • Passage width. Standard is 500–550 mm on TiSO and from 600 mm on Sablex. For trolleys, luggage and wheelchairs: 900 mm, 1000 mm on the Sweeper-S, up to 1200 mm on the Sweeper-HGW and Sablex Lumina.
  • Wing height. Tall glass wings on the HG, HGW, S-HG and SH series (up to 1800 mm from the floor on the Sweeper-HG) prevent jumping over or passing items across.
  • Wing type. Swing wings on the Sweeper range and the Sablex Lumina, Ultra and Elite. Retractable on the Jetpan (upwards) and SpeedBlade (out of the cabinet, telescopic on the 900).
  • Cabinet width. The Sweeper-S, S-HG and SH have a 110 mm cabinet, so a narrow entrance fits more lanes; the Jetpan and SpeedBlade 290 mm.
  • Speed and flow. The Sweeper, Sweeper-M and Sweeper-WP open in 0.3 s on a 550 mm lane. The Sweeper-AL passes 18 people/min in single access mode and 60 in free mode.
  • Operating conditions. The Sweeper, Sweeper-S, Sweeper-HG and Sweeper-AL are rated for +1…+40 °C. For outdoor use, choose the Sweeper-WP with IP54.
  • Power failure. On the Sweeper-HGW, Jetpan and Sweeper-WP the wings can be opened by hand (fail-safe).

  • Sablex Apex, Core X, Lumina, Ultra, Elite — control via relay output; 600–900 mm passage on the Ultra and Elite, 600–1200 mm on the Lumina.

Where they are used

Speed gates suit the lobbies of business centres, banks and hotels. The Sweeper-AL is built for airport terminals, the Sablex Elite for airports, offices and stadiums. The Sweeper-WP works outdoors: at railway and bus stations and on the coast.

Can a speed gate be installed outdoors?

Yes, but only a model designed for it: the Sweeper-WP with IP54. The Sweeper, Sweeper-S and Sweeper-HG are rated for +1…+40 °C, so we agree conditions per site.

How do strollers or luggage get through?

Through a wide 900–1200 mm lane, which can be combined with narrow lanes in one line.
