Removable bollards

A removable bollard blocks the passage permanently, but can be removed when needed: the post is unlocked by turning a key, lifted out of the sleeve, and the passage is open. Once the vehicle has passed, the bollard is put back in place.

This solution is chosen where passage is needed rarely and on schedule: service and emergency entrances to pedestrian zones, store loading, night access to the territory, temporary restrictions on squares and in courtyards. Compared to automatic systems, a removable bollard requires neither power nor drive maintenance.

What to look for when choosing:

• opening frequency — if passage is needed daily and several times, it is wiser to look at semi-automatic or automatic bollards
• anti-ram performance — TISO ASTM/IWA models are available in classes M30, M40, and M50; according to the manufacturer, compliance is confirmed by crash tests
• locking mechanism — a key lock that holds the post in the working position and prevents unauthorized removal
• weight and ease of removal — the post is removed by one person, so the weight should be matched to the person who will handle it
• embedded part — the sleeve is mounted into the base; the embedding depth and foundation requirements are given in the model specifications
