A tripod turnstile is the most common type of turnstile for organizing controlled passage indoors. The passage area is blocked by three rotor arms: after permission from the access control system, the rotor rotates 120° and lets one person through. This principle provides individual counting of passages and does not require a large area.

Tripods are installed at checkpoints in business centers and offices, at production facilities, in educational institutions, sports and entertainment venues — where visitors need to be counted and outsiders kept out, and the threat level does not require completely blocking the passage to human height.

What to look for when choosing:

  • traffic intensity — for dense traffic, models with a servo-driven mechanism are taken, in which the arms rotate smoothly and without queues
  • number of directions — two-way modifications (TWIN) serve entry and exit in one housing
  • mounting method — most models are installed on the floor, ONYX-XS is mounted to the wall and does not require a separate support post
  • housing design — from compact budget to inclined glass surface and built-in all-in-one terminal
  • evacuation — the tripod design does not open the passage area completely, so the evacuation route is closed with a Gate series wicket

All models work with any of the access control systems existing on the market; places for installing readers are provided in the turnstile housing. Power conditions, dimensions, and mounting method are specified in the characteristics of each model.
