Turnstiles

A turnstile is an access control device that lets people through a checkpoint one at a time on a signal from a card, a code or a guard's button. This section covers five turnstile types by TiSO and Sablex, from compact tripods for offices to full height models for site perimeters.

How to choose turnstiles

• Traffic. A tripod handles 25 people/min in single-passage mode, a full height turnstile 20 people/min (the mechanical Push&Go 60).
• Passage width. Tripods and rotary models give 533–600 mm. Trolleys and luggage need a swing gate or a speed gate of up to 1200 mm.
• Security level. A tripod blocks the lane only with its rotor arms; a full height housing of 2150–2310 mm blocks it to full human height.
• Location. Outdoor versions are optional for specific models; see the FAQ below.
• Drive. Servo-driven models open on an access control command; Gate-SPR, Gate-STE and Push&Go are mechanical.
• Identification. Onyx-S and Onyx-M have RFID readers under the glass; Twix All-in-One-M can house a barcode or QR scanner.

Turnstile types

• Tripod turnstiles (ONYX, CENTURION, BASTION, TWIX, SKULL, GALAXY): passage 560–600 mm, 25 people/min single, 60 free passage.
• Swing gates (Gate, Onyx, XGate): passage 650–1050 mm, metal, glass or telescopic leaf; the lane for wheelchairs and goods.
• Half height turnstiles (Star, Cyclone-L): passage 533–560 mm, 20 people/min single, 60 free passage, IP41, IP54 or IP65 on request.
• Speed gates (TiSO Sweeper, SpeedBlade, Jetpan and five Sablex models): passage 500–1200 mm, leaves move in 0.3–1.8 s.
• Full height turnstiles (Sesame, GlassGO, Bicyclone, HighWay-G/NG, Push&Go): Sesame, GlassGO and Bicyclone pass 20 people/min through a 535–650 mm rotor. HighWay-G/NG has leaves and a 1000 mm lane, the mechanical Push&Go 60 people/min and a 980 or 1380 mm lane, the Sesame Gate-W swing gate a 900 mm lane.

Turnstiles are installed at plant and factory checkpoints, in offices and business centres, shopping centres, banks, hotels, airports and stadiums.

How much does a turnstile cost?

What is the difference between automatic and mechanical turnstiles?

An automatic turnstile (servo-driven or electromechanical) unlocks on a signal from the access control system. The mechanical Push&Go works without a servo drive, so it suits sites with no stable power supply.

Which turnstiles can be installed outdoors?

An outdoor version is an option for specific models rated +1 or +5 to +40 °C; we agree the conditions for your site. For frost choose Sesame, Bicyclone or Push&Go (from −40 °C), for rain the weatherproof Sweeper-WP with IP 54.
