Barriers

An automatic boom barrier is a motor-driven arm on a cabinet that opens and closes a vehicle lane on a command from the control system. Boom barriers organise traffic at the entrance but, unlike anti-ram blockers and bollards, do not physically stop a vehicle. This section covers FAAC, MAGNETIC and TiSO models for lanes up to 10 m wide.

How to choose an automatic boom barrier

• Lane width — from 3.5 m on MAGNETIC Access to 10 m on Access XXL, up to 8 m on FAAC (B680H).
• Opening time — minimum opening time from 0.3 s (MAGNETIC Toll) to 8.0 s (Access XXL).
• Operator duty cycle — FAAC from 50% (615BPR) to 100% (B614, 620 Rapid, B680H); MAGNETIC Parking Pro and Toll are designed for 10 million cycles.
• Pedestrians nearby — Access, Access-L, Access Pro-L and Pro-H are approved for pedestrian movement, Access Pro, XL2 and XXL with limits; Parking Pro is only for car parks without pedestrians.
• Climate — protection class from IP44 to IP56; Optimus operates from -40 to +60 °C (heating option below -10 °C, cooling option above +40 °C).
• Safety — obstacle detection (B614), hydraulic anti-crushing protection (615BPR), optional breakaway arm on vehicle impact (Parking Pro, Toll).

Where boom barriers are used

The Access series is installed at car parks, company grounds and residential buildings. XL2 and XXL are built for wide and multi-lane entrances to warehouses, industrial sites and ports. Parking Pro is designed for multi-storey and underground car parks, and Toll for toll plazas on bridges, in tunnels and on roads.
