The automatic bollard rises and lowers on command: from the remote control, access control system, license plate reader, or security button. The section presents models with hydraulic drive, including those with a built-in hydraulic power unit — this design is simpler to install because it does not require a separate cabinet with a pump station nearby.
Automatic bollards are installed at entrances to courtyards and closed areas, on service driveways, parking lots, and dedicated lanes, as well as where passage is opened dozens of times a day and manual handling is impossible.
What to look for when choosing:
- protection level — in addition to parking models, the section includes anti-ram TISO ASTM classes M30 and M50; according to the manufacturer, they are intended for areas with a high risk of heavy vehicle impact
- drive and hydraulic power unit location — built-in simplifies installation, remote services several bollards in a line
- cycle intensity — the number of lifts per day determines the drive's service life; it must be specified before choosing a model
- heating and climate — a heating system is provided for winter operation; operating ranges are indicated in the specifications
- passage safety — built-in inductive vehicle detection loop, traffic light column, and sound device prevent raising under a vehicle
- foundation and cable routes — the main part of the work and installation cost
